Believe! Spring Awakening Movie Still on Track

first_imgThe creative team behind the Spring Awakening movie, who had been hoping to go into production in 2013, is still aiming to get the musical onto the silver screen sooner rather than later. Composer Duncan Sheik revealed to U-T San Diego that he and lyricist/book writer Steven Sater are “trying to get the the Spring Awakening movie made this year. It’s in process.” Sheik has good reason to be hopeful: “We have a fancy director (McG) and a fancy producer (Playtone, Tom Hanks’ company) involved. So fingers crossed we’ll be diving into it.” There’ll also be a new song. “It’s the only way you’re eligible for an Academy Award.” View Commentscenter_img No word yet on who will star in the film, but whomever boards has big shoes to fill—the original 2006 Broadway cast included Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff.
