AP Pension, PWRI, MN, Norit, RPMI Railpen, Varma, PIC, Finnish FSA, COVIP, NN IP, Robeco, RWC Partners, Stonehage Fleming, Amundi, Environment Agency, PLSAAP Pension – Bo Normann Rasmussen has been appointed as chief executive of Danish pension provider AP Pension, having been temporarily drafted into the role in early December following the sudden departure of the previous chief executive Søren Dal Thomsen. The company’s chairman Niels Dengsø Jensen said Rasmussen had the leadership skills to ensure AP Pension was well equipped to continue delivering solid returns to customers and to meet the rising level of legislative regulation. Rasmussen is a qualified actuary who has worked at AP Pension since 2006, having previously been employed at PensionDanmark and PFA Pension.PWRI – The €8bn pension fund for disabled workers in sheltered accommodation (PWRI) has named Wim Hoek as its new director. Hoek joins from the €114bn asset manager and pensions provider MN, where he has been director for strategy and marketing since 2011. He started his career at Achmea, where he left as director of pensions in 2007. He continued as a consultant at Aon and Boer & Croon and also ran his own consultancy. Hoek succeeds Frans Prins, who left PWRI at the end of last year. Prins has been appointed as independent chairman of the €108m Dutch pension fund of carbon manufacturer Norit. At the scheme, he succeeds Rob Bakker, who retired in November.RPMI Railpen – The multi-employer scheme for UK railway workers has appointed Matthew Howard as head of property asset management. In the newly created role, Howard will be responsible for strategy. He reports to Anna Rule, head of property, who joined at the start of the year. He joins the £25bn (€28.8bn) scheme from Market Tech Holdings where he was head of asset management. Varma – Rolf Jansson has been elected as a new member of Varma’s board of directors by the pension insurance company’s supervisory board. Jansson is chief executive of Finnish railway company VR Group. He took up the role at Varma on 8 March, and his election follows the resignation of board member Mikael Aro, which took effect on 2 March.Pension Insurance Corporation – Former regulatory chief Giles Fairhead has been appointed chief risk officer for the UK-based specialist insurer of defined benefit schemes. He is a former head of retail life insurance regulation at the Prudential Regulatory Authority, part of the Bank of England. During his tenure at the PRA he led a range of projects including implementation of capital adequacy rules and Solvency II reporting. He joins from PwC where he was a director, advising life insurance firms on risk, regulation, governance, and compliance.FIN-FSA – Jyri Helenius has been appointed deputy director general of FIN-FSA, the Finnish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finanssivalvonta). He has been head of the prudential supervision department at the agency since 2014. Olli Rehn, a member of the board of the Bank of Finland, took up his post as chairman of the FIN-FSA board on 1 February, replacing Pentti Hakkarainen, whose term of office at the Bank of Finland had just ended.COVIP – The Italian pension fund regulator, COVIP (Comissione di Vigilanza sui Fondi Pensione), has a new director. Lucia Anselmi has been appointed following the departure of former director Raffaele Capuano. Capuano is leaving COVIP to join the Italian finance ministry. Anselmi has held various roles at the regulator, including pension fund oversight, financial and actuarial analysis, and monitoring.NN Investment Partners – Mark van der Kroft, sales director for institutional clients at Robeco, has moved to the €180bn asset manager NN IP, where he has been appointed as director for strategic business development. Van der Kroft is the third Robeco director to join NN IP within a short period. Earlier, Maureen Schlejen and trustee Hester Borrie made the step.RWC Partners – The London-based asset manager has hired Arthur Grigoryants to the newly created role of head of investment strategy. He joins from family office Stonehage Fleming where he spent 12 years, latterly as joint CIO. The new role reflected a need to invest in the infrastructure of asset management, according to RWC CEO Dan Mannix.Amundi – Amundi has reshuffled roles within its senior management. Bernard Carayon, head of the steering and control division, is stepping down to become and adviser to the company’s general management. Bernard de Wit is replacing Carayon, while Guillaume Lesage is taking over de Wit’s current role as head of support and business development.Meanwhile, Amundi also hired Michel Bernard as global head of consultant relations. He joins from Unigestion where he was responsible for institutional business development.Delta Lloyd AM – Daan van der Werf is to start in the new position of chief commercial officer at Delta Lloyd Asset Management. He joins from Kempen Capital Management, where he was director of institutional relations and member of the management team. Prior to this, Van der Werf was portfolio manager and institutional relations manager at ABN Amro.Environment Agency – Joanne Segars, chief executive of the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association, has been appointed to the board of the Environment Agency. Her appointment is from 1 March and will last three years. The agency oversees flood defences and environmental issues in the UK. Segars has led the UK’s pension fund trade body since 2006.
