first_img Ryan Schofield 1 Huddersfield have promoted teenage goalkeeper Ryan Schofield to their first-team squad.England Under-20 international Schofield, 17, who featured for the Terriers’ under-18s last season, will work alongside the club’s new head of goalkeeping Paul Clements.“Everyone knows that Ryan is a talented young goalkeeper,” Huddersfield head coach David Wagner told the club’s official website.“He will now move into the first-team changing room and train with us every day while also continuing to play games for our academy sides and this will help him develop.”Schofield made his England Under-18s debut in March against Qatar and signed a two-year deal with the Terriers, his first professional contract, towards the end of last season.He was included in England’s Under-20s squad for the Toulon Tournament in June and made four appearances as the Young Lions retained the trophy.Huddersfield’s first-choice last season, Danny Ward, has returned to parent club Liverpool and Wagner signed Denmark international goalkeeper Jonas Lossl last month on a season-long loan from Bundesliga club Mainz.last_img
