first_imgAt Search for the Truth Ministries, Bruce Malone provides a wide variety of resources to refute evolution and present creation.Meet Bruce Malone. He might be described as a workaholic or an inveterate multi-talented multi-tasker. An ambassador with Logos Research Associates, he has run Search for the Truth Ministries for 25 years. His website is loaded with resources: a blog, books, videos, and more. He offers a newsletter. He travels and speaks around the world. And many of his publications and DVDs he will freely give to you if you have a need but can’t pay. His “About” page describes his background and what keeps him going:Bruce Malone gave his life to Christ over 25 years ago, as the Lord miraculously preserved him through a close call with death. Since that time Bruce has looked for a deeper purpose in life and realized that rejection of Biblical truth, justified by belief in evolution, is the acid which is eating away at the moral foundation of our culture. Bruce spent 30 years working as a research leader for the Dow Chemical Corporation, has a degree chemical engineering, and is responsible for key innovations which have resulted in 18 patents. But his passion is sharing the relevance and evidence for creation, so he retired early to become full time Director of Search for the Truth Ministries. Bruce has spoken extensively, from secular universities to Christian groups, in 12 countries. Since 2008 Bruce given almost 800 lectures to more than 50,000 people. More than 60,000 books on the scientific credibility of creation have been donated to students and prisoners. Bruce brings science alive through stories and demonstrations, showing that Biblical creation is the most rational explanation for the world around us. The purpose of both his books and lectures is to help the non-scientific layman understand the importance of creation while motivating and equipping them to share these truths. Bruce resides in Midland, MI with his wife Robin, and they have four children who are all actively serving the Lord. One of his recent projects is a 12-DVD teaching set called The Rocks Cry Out, presented in two volumes of six disks. The production quality is good, showing Bruce teaching in many locations on a wide range of topics. In episode 10, he interviewed several scientists and creation advocates, including CEH Editor David Coppedge. Here is a sample of the interchange so that you can see and hear Mr. Malone. For the first question, he asked the participants about scientific evidence in favor of recent creation:BruceMalone-TheRocksCryOut-10-DFC-SaturnThe second question was about the strongest arguments against evolution:BruceMalone-TheRocksCryOut-10-DFC-EvolutionSelfRefutingMr. Malone’s books are very well illustrated in color, making creation arguments appealing. For instance, his book Censored Science contains numerous arguments for creation you don’t find in secular textbooks. His book Brilliant gives many examples of amazing technologies by ancient people, proving that early man was not “primitive.”We are grateful to Bruce Malone for offering CEH to use any of his materials freely. He is an effective speaker with a wealth of information to share. We encourage groups to buy his materials, show his DVDs to study groups, and perhaps invite him to speak to your church or creation group.(Visited 612 times, 1 visits today)FacebookTwitterPinterestSave分享0last_img read more

first_imgBy Rachel Dorman, MS & Heidi Radunovich, PhDDue to the growing rate of military members suffering from PTSD and seeking mental health treatment, mental health providers may be exposed to indirect trauma more than ever. As a result, providers are at risk of experiencing secondary traumatic stress. In today’s blog we will be taking a closer look at secondary traumatic stress by discussing a study conducted by Cieslak and colleagues (2013).[Flickr, CFF_4170 by Converse College, CC BY-ND 2.0] Retrieved on September 17, 2015The researchers in this study examined indirect exposure to trauma, and its relationship to secondary traumatic stress among mental health providers working with military members. The authors defined secondary traumatic stress (STS) as having “PTSD-like symptoms” after indirect exposure to trauma. The study participants included 223 psychologists, counselors, or social workers who provide mental health services to military service members, and as a result have been exposed to indirect trauma within the past year of working. The participants completed a survey which assessed level of indirect exposure to traumatic stress, appraisal of the impact of exposure, direct exposure to trauma, symptoms of secondary stress, and workplace and professional support characteristics. In relation to prevalence of STS, the researchers found that over 19% of the participants met the criteria of intrusion, arousal, and avoidance associated with a PTSD diagnosis. Intrusion was found to be the most common criteria at 57%, then arousal at 35%, and lastly avoidance at 30%. The researchers found that seeing higher numbers of traumatized clients in practice increased the likelihood of experiencing STS. It was also found that how practitioners viewed indirect exposure to trauma impacted likelihood of STS, such that the more negatively a practitioner felt about the indirect exposure, the higher the number of STS symptoms. Overall, having too many clients, higher levels of a personal history with trauma, and higher levels of negative appraisal of indirect exposure were the strongest predictors for STS symptoms.[Flickr, Together, in B&W by Care_SMC, CC BY-ND 2.0] Retrieved on September 17, 2015The researchers call for the need for more awareness and appraisal of secondary traumatic exposure for mental health providers working with the military population. first_imgYou can’t teach someone to swim if you haven’t spent a lot of time in the water. You wouldn’t want open heart surgery from someone whose qualifications were limited to reading a book. Experience matters. If you want to lead a sales force, get out in front and sell. “How do I lead and manage a sales force having never had any sales experience?”I’ve heard the same question three times in as many days, although it was worded a little different each time. One entrepreneur asked me for the one book he should read to try to get up to speed as fast as possible in order to lead and manage his team. His heart is in the right place, but there isn’t such a book. Here is the real answer: Start selling.Pick up the phone and start calling your dream clients and asking them for meetings. Start asking people to refer you and to make introductions. Get on LinkedIn, connect with people, and see if you can share how you create value (or intend to). Book yourself on no less than five face-to-face sales calls a week. No, I didn’t forget that you were the entrepreneur. I am telling you this because you are the entrepreneur. You will never know what it feels like to make cold calls if you don’t make them yourself. And if you can’t figure out how to make it work, you can’t teach someone else.If you are doing any business at all, you need to start asking for referrals. Later, you are going to want your sales team to ask for referrals, and if you’ve never gotten one, they won’t either.Social selling is easy, isn’t it? You just connect with people and share cool links and then they buy, right? There isn’t a single prospecting method that produces results without massive effort and some real chops, and social is no different. You are going to need your sales force sitting face-to-face with your dream clients. The best way for them to learn is to accompany you on sales calls. No one knows more. No one has more passion. No one cares more deeply than you do.last_img read more

first_imgPune: Providing yet another lifeline to fraud-accused builder Deepak S. Kulkarni, the Supreme Court on Friday granted the developer an extension of four weeks to repay investors. However, while disposing off the special leave petition (SLP), the Bench comprising Justices Adarsh Kumar Goel and Uday Umesh Lalit made it clear that no further extension would be granted after January 19, 2018. “We respect the Supreme Court’s directive. All money will be returned to investors within the stipulated time frame [January 19, 2018] as directed by the court. No one will be cheated of their rightful money. The apex court, through its order, has expressed confidence in us. We hope that our business will soon be back on track,” said Mr. Kulkarni, through a statement. The developer and his wife, Hemanti, accused of duping thousands of investors across Pune, Mumbai and Kolhapur, had filed an online SLP in Supreme Court on December 20 seeking further extension of interim relief in a bid to stave off arrest. On December 19, the Bombay High Court, after providing an extended breather to him for a fortnight, had cancelled Mr. Kulkarni’s adinterim relief, following which the Pune police claimed the builder was ‘absconding’.The HC rejected any extension of Mr. Kulkarni’s relief after the DSK Group failed deposit ₹50 crore in the court registry within the stipulated fortnight.A total five of FIRs across Pune, Mumbai and Kolhapur have been lodged against the developer and his family since October 28, with more than 3,000 investors filing cheating complaints against Mr. Kulkarni.More than 8,000 persons, a majority of them senior citizens, are said to have invested in the DSK group’s fixed deposit (FD) scheme. The developer is said to owe an excess of ₹600 crore to investors. On November 8, a special court in Pune had quashed the interim bail application of Mr. Kulkarni and his wife. The Kulkarnis, facing prospect of arrest, had then moved the Bombay High Court against the Pune court’s order and were granted interim relief, which was extended periodically for nearly a month on promise of repayment to investors.last_img read more

first_imgA month after a trial court in Bhubaneswar absolved the two accused in the 2011-12 case of rape and murder of a 19-year-old from Pipili, the State crime branch police here on Thursday approached the Orissa High Court challenging their acquittal.Criminal appeal plea High Court sources confirmed filing of the criminal appeal plea but said the matter has not been listed for adjudication yet. The crime branch moved the High Court after consultations with the State Director of Public Prosecutions and the State Advocate General. However, a special public prosecutor appointed by the crime branch police will conduct the case on its behalf. Crime branch Additional DG Santosh K. Upadhyay had earlier indicated the government’s decision to challenge the acquittal verdict, stating that the case was investigated properly. “The prosecution had argued the case, touching every possible angle, clearly establishing the involvement of the accused persons in the case,” the ADG had said. One of the accused, who reportedly had a relationship with the victim, and his younger brother were arrested in connection with the case. The teenager was allegedly raped and an attempt was made to kill her by strangulation on November 28, 2011.Allegations that local BJD MLA and then Minister Pradeep Maharathy was sheltering the accused had led to massive public outcry. Following this, the State government handed over the case to the crime branch police and Mr. Maharathy was asked to put in his papers. The rape victim, who was rescued, had slipped in a coma while undergoing treatment at S.C.B. Medical College and Hospital here and died on June 21, 2012, after battling for life for nearly seven months.Soon after the lower court verdict, Mr. Maharathy, a Minister, made distasteful observations regarding the victim and her family. After a massive public backlash, he was forced to tender his resignation from the Cabinet for the second time.last_img read more
